I bought this hose as a replacement for a 40+ year old Schwinn pump. Original Schwinn hoses (which weren't that good to begin with) are no longer available for this pump, so I figured why not take a chance. I just needed to cut off the fitting at the pump end, and salvage the hose barb from the old hose, then clamp the hose into place with a small worm-drive hose clamp. My old pump now works better than ever. I can now pump both presta and schrader valves, where I needed to use a presta adapter before. I can't say how long this hose will last, but it appears to be made of quality materials, and certainly works well on both styles of valve stem. There is one small quibble, when you lock the head onto the valve stem, you raise the locking lever so that it sticks straight out from the stem. When you release the lock, it snaps down HARD against the hose. Be sure to have your fingers clear!

I have to admit, I bought this hose and chuck with the intention of modifying it to fit my 20-year-old Schwinn pump. It worked beautifully. On the new hose, I cut off the threaded attachment. I removed the worn out chuck and hose from the hose barb. The new hose slid right on and holds great.
It took some time to decide on this hose and chuck. After reading all the Amazon reviews, I will agree with anyone that says this is the best value. The chuck works great. The hose feels plenty supple. Get this for any floor pump.
Tips: Use 1/4" hose barbs for this hose. Check and confirm any NPT threads before buying any threaded parts (sometimes called MPT or FPT for male/female) for your pump. The nominal NPT diameter is closer to the hole size, not the thread.
